He discusses the peel job for blister repair that was done 19 years ago and why a peel job would not work to remove these blisters longterm on our sailboat. He demonstrates our blister repair job starting with what he did to open up the blisters on our sailboat, and how he decided how deep to go in to each blister. He shows how the blisters were rebuilt up with various kinds of fiberglass cloths and resin, sanded, puttied and fared, and finished off, and why washing the boat every day was important too to dry it out and prepare it for rebuilding each blistered area.
This is part 1 in a 2 part DIY blister repair video. Repairing our sailboat to continue sailing around the world, requires a lot of sailboat maintenance, constantly, and Patrick Childress goes boldly in this sailboat refit for 10 months straight, with very few days off to have fun! This is a video to watch if you want to understand not just the ups, but also the downs of sailboat ownership and boat life!
