The coronavirus outbreak has swarmed Italy and Iran.
Italy's death toll from COVID-19 passed the one thousand mark on Thursday...after a 23-percent jump in just a day.
As the hardest-hit nation by the virus in all of Europe,..Italy's total number of confirmed cases has reached over 15-thousand.
"Today we have 213 newly recovered patients and this brings up the total to 1,258. As for the people currently affected by coronavirus, we have an increase of 2,214 new cases."
Over in the Middle East,...Iran has been the worst-hit country in the region and has reported over 10-thousand confirmed cases with at least 420 COVID-19 deaths so far.
Some twenty government officials, including Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, have tested positive for the virus.
Meanwhile,...Central and South American countries have activated additional preventive measures to curb the spread of the virus.
Argentina has banned inbound passengers from certain regions.
"This decree suspends flights from Europe, the United States, South Korea, Japan, China and Iran for 30 days."
Venezuela - a country that has not reported any confirmed cases of COVID-19 - has also halted all flights from Europe for a month.
Brazil's President, Jair Bolsonaro, has called on his supporters to suspend rallies they had planned in the country's main cities on Sunday.
Up in the North,...the wife of Canada's Prime Minister, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, has contracted the virus.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is reportedly in good condition with no symptoms, but will be in self-isolation for two weeks.
