eThekwini Municipality to select a new operator for its public bus system The eThekwini Municipality says it will embark on a tender process to select a new private entity to operate its public bus system.
The city has had to fork out millions of rand to bail out private operators over the years.
The current operator TANSNAT DURBAN CC - owned by former president Jacob Zuma's nephew Mandla Gcaba - is said to owe the city millions.
The mayor made the announcement during the launch of a new fleet of buses in Umlazi, South of Durban.
