When vetting freelancers you should look at their work and make sure the work looks like the work you want them to do. You also want to ask them how they work, where does it break, and where has it been really successful. The traits the freelancer should have are: responsive, reasonable, level headed, have a clear process, and are articulate. Trust your gut on the person you hire. There are plenty of freelancers out there so don’t get stuck on one person. You should have a database of 12 people from low, mid, to high price, that way you can always have someone for any cost/task you have. Make a short commitment when testing someone out. Pay them for a day or two worth of work and if they do well then keep working with them and if not then no harm, no foul.
