Memory Gem: “Quiet streams are often very deep.” Memory gems were once a staple of American education. Each gem was either a piece of useful information, an affirmation, or a moral standard to live by. The idea was that if children repeated and memorized these gems, they would become imprinted on their psyche and help build their moral character.
