The public of Senapati town, mostly the Nagas, has been enraged by the arbitrary arrest of NSCN-IM personel by the Assam Rifles. The conflict between the two spiraled up yesterday when Assam Rifle captain reportedly chased down some miscreants appeared to be NSCN-IM cadres. As a result, Naga insurgent group overpowered the Assam Rifle captain and forced him to surrender his assault rifle to the Naga insurgent. Only after some negotiations with the intervention of civil societies, the concerned captain and his weapons were reported to be returned to AR.
Allegedly, as a reaction to the humiliation slapped yesterday, the Assam Rifle cracked down and arrested the Naga insurgent Commander.
The public in town displays discontentment over this act.
